FAA-PMA Quality Manager

Position Summary:
The Quality Manager must be familiar with FAA regulations as it pertains to aircraft parts and components, particularly FAA-PMA, and is responsible to oversee our FAA-PMA quality system to ensure compliance. The QM will perform incoming and outgoing inspections of parts.

The Quality Manger will Manage Reverse Engineering projects, manage material analysis & testing, identify production sources, manage test plans, oversee testing, and perform conformity inspection on finished product. Liaison with customers, suppliers and manufacturers.

Primary Duties/Position Responsibilities:

Quality:

  • Know and ensure compliance to FAA Regulations.
  • Manage all aspects of FAA quality system and reporting requirements Perform regular Internal quality audits
  • Liaison with FAA MIDO for quality system compliance and inspections
  • Conduct incoming and outgoing inspections of parts
  • Provide quality updates and guidance to Management
  • Prepare quality plans, procedures, and inspection instructions
  • Maintain Quality Systems, standards, and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation
  • Approve, review and maintain all drawings, specifications and work instructions
  • Conduct Supplier Development, Performance reviews, Quality Audits and Corrective Actions
  • Evaluate sampling plans for verification & validation testing, component inspection, and lot release.
  • Drive continuous improvement in existing product
  • Manage COS (Continued Operational Safety) program.
  • Review and disposition of nonconforming materials
  • Identify critical characteristics, dimensions, and inspection features. 
  • Monitor and ensure products are manufactured in accordance with Design data and documented appropriately
  • Investigate failures and potential issues to identify, develop, and implement appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
  • Assess any failures that occur during product design verification and design validation to determine design solution.
  • Review and approve changes to drawings, specifications and processes to ensure appropriate change control, regulatory evaluation, and update of related documentation such as Quality Manual.

 

Basic Qualifications:    

  • 3-5 years of experience in quality experience in the aerospace industry, PMA experience a strong plus.
  • Proficient using 3D CAD software (Solidworks, AutoCAD, etc.) 
  • Experience reviewing and approving drawings, specifications, work instructions, and marking/labeling.
  • Experience with standard drawing convention and GD&T
  • Significant knowledge of aerospace standards and specifications.
  • Experience preparing quality plans, procedures, inspection instructions and training
  • Experience evaluating sampling plans for verification and validation testing, component inspection and lot release. 
  • Experience overseeing lab testing and interpreting results.
  • Experience ensuring products, are designed to be safe, effective and reliable.
  • Knowledge of aerospace materials, processes, and coatings 
  • Familiarity with conventional aerospace manufacturing methods, including; milling, turning, grinding, lapping, stamping, forging, casting, molding, EDM, ECM, heat treating, etc. 
  • A high attention to detail
  • Must be flexible in handling multiple tasks
